You will get your summer job with an excellent application!

To apply for a summer job, you will need a job application and a CV. It is worthwhile preparing them carefully. A good summer job application is no longer than one page, so that the employer can see which job you are seeking and why you are the best candidate at a glance. Here’s our tips for your application!

1. Edit the application based on the employer

First, read the job advertisement carefully. Look at the company’s website and social media channels. What kinds of qualities are they looking for in a summer employee? Search for keywords such as hard-working or social, which you can use when writing about your strengths.

2. Start with the essentials

Start by stating why you’re interested in this summer job in particular! In the first paragraph, summarise in an interesting fashion who you are, where you excel and why you are the best person for this job. Respond to the requirements and questions posed in the job advertisement.

3. Be honest and your unique self

Write in a business-like tone, while still letting your personality show. What makes you special? If you haven’t had a summer job before, don’t worry: you can talk about your studies, where you were for your introduction to working life period, or what you do in your free time. You can list your musical hobbies, superb social media skills or other special skills. All experience, knowledge and skills related to the summer job are important.

4. Distinguish yourself

If you are sociable and writing an application feels difficult, you can also record an open video application. On the video, the employer will get a clear picture of what kind of a person you are. Instructions for shooting a video application and examples of video applications.

5. Revise, edit and save!

Make sure that your application includes things that are relevant for the job you are seeking. The application’s beginning and ending will stick with the employer the most. Check the overall impression, correct grammar errors and save the form as a PDF file. Give the application file a clear name, such as lastname-application.pdf.

Please remember that you can work by using the summer job voucher from 1 June to 13 August 2021.
Good luck!
