Free contraception for people aged under 25

You can get free contraceptives from the student health nurse of your educational institution and from health stations, for example.

Helsinki offers everyone under 25 years of age free contraceptives to prevent pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. If you need contraception, don’t hesitate to contact the student health nurse of your educational institution or your local health station. With the nurse, you can discuss which method of contraception is right for you. Under certain conditions, individuals over 20 years of age may also be entitled to free contraception.

Sexual and contraception counselling is also offered without a prior appointment to people aged under 20 at the walk-in reception of the Kalasatama and Vuosaari health stations. The walk-in reception is open to all sexes and genders.

Everyone who has sex has the duty to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. When you use a condom, you are a responsible sexual partner and you avoid contracting sexually transmitted diseases.

The City of Helsinki distributes free condoms to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. You can get condoms from health stations, school and student health nurses, maternity and child health clinics and centralised contraceptive counselling appointments.
