Families
All our activities are on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. Children’s Traffic Town traditionally provides children and families with an opportunity to practise how to navigate traffic safely, both in theory and practice.
Open activities for families are organised during the holidays of the schools in the Helsinki area (summer, autumn and winter holidays). When schools are open, we serve groups from schools and preschools. Residents may use the Traffic Town freely in the evenings and at weekends as long as there are no other reservations. The activities organised during holidays are free of charge.
In the summer:
From Monday to Thursday, all children (over the age of 5 or turning 5 that year) participate in teaching. Children may participate in one theory lesson per day. Practical exercises are followed by a 30-minute break, after which children may participate in practical exercises again with the next group.
Fridays and Sundays are family days without an age limit, during which the adults accompanying the children instruct and guide the children in how to move about the Traffic Town in accordance with traffic rules. Children are always the guardian’s responsibility. The City of Helsinki has not taken out insurance for the participants. There is also a small café/kiosk in the area that serves customers during the Traffic Town’s opening hours.
During autumn and winter holidays:
From Monday to Friday, our services are available in the form of family days, during which the adults accompanying the children instruct and guide the children in how to move about the Traffic Town in their pedal cars, following the traffic rules for pedestrians.
Around the year!
The traffic lights are on in the Traffic Town from morning till evening every day. The area also includes a small play area for the youngest members of the family.
Birthday reservations
Our facilities can be booked for private use, such as birthdays, at weekends (Friday evenings + Saturdays and Sundays) outside our summer activities.
The facility rental fee is €150/3 h.
The rental facilities include the indoor spaces, where you can serve food, as well as the outdoor spaces and the related equipment. The Traffic Town has pedal cars that are best suited for children aged 5 to 12.
